by Bombers Staff

The Long Beach Bombers are proud to announce the signing of Swedish forward, William Strömbäck. The December 12, 1998-born left shot stands at 5’9 and weighs 165lbs. He has been raised in his hometown’s Kiruna IF organization, where he was recently playing for their Division 1 and J20 Elit teams.

In 14 games with the senior club, Strömbäck recorded 2 points. However, with Kiruna’s J20 Elit team, Strömbäck had 11 points in just 6 games played. Last season, he also split time between the J20 and Division 1 teams, registering 1 point for the A League, and a stat line of 18GP-12G-8A-20Pts for the J20 squad. In total, Strömbäck has played 30 games for the senior team, and put up 65 points in 55 games, for the J20 team. He has led the J20 team in Points-Per-Game for the last three seasons. Strömbäck is a familiar opponent for Bombers star center, Erik Sillerström, whose IF Sundsvall Hockey team competes in the same J20 Elit division (Norra) as Kiruna IF. Sillerström described Strömbäck as a, “skilled and fast” forward.

Long Beach Bombers Head Coach & General Manager, Chris White, commented, “We feel William is going to be an impact player for our club, and give us one more legitimate offensive threat. We have a very deep forwards group, so we wouldn’t add some one unless we thought they were going to have top-6 potential. This move will give us a lot of options as to how we choose our lineup for certain opponents. William’s experience as a top scorer at the J20 level, and as a young player who has already logged 30 games at the Division 1 level, is going to hopefully accelerate his transition period, and allow him to produce right away. He has played both center and wing, which will give us the flexibility to try some different combinations as we approach the Thorne Cup Playoffs.”
