Bombers Alum Ryan Orgel Signs With University of Denver
A huge congratulations goes out to former Long Beach Bombers defenseman, Ryan Orgel, who recently signed with the University of Denver Pioneers. Orgel becomes the first-ever Bombers alum to play at the NCAA Division One level. As a fifteen year-old, Orgel played 15 games in ’12-’13, recording 6 assists. Ryan’s older brother, Kyle, was also on the team, that season.
Ryan spent the last year and a half in the North American Hockey League, playing for the Wichita Falls Wildcats and Lone Star Brahmas. After a stat line of 56GP-10G-21A, last season, Orgel burst into the ’17-’18 season with 5G-2A in just 11 games played. In late-November, the University of Denver came knocking, and signed the twenty year-old; effectively ending his junior career. Orgel immediately reported to Denver, and has since played 5 games. The #4-Ranked Pioneers feature five NHL Draft picks, including Henrik Borgstrom, and recent Team USA Olympic member, Troy Terry.
Long Beach Bombers Head Coach & General Manager, Chris White, commented, “When I received the news from Kenny Orgel that Ryan had elected to forego the second half of his final junior season, due to this opportunity at Denver, I was ecstatic for him. Ryan is such a great young man, and extremely dedicated to his craft. It is an honor for our organization to be a blip on the radar in Ryan’s blossoming career. I remember Ryan as having a lot of potential as a young two-way defenseman, and a possessing a solid skill set. He worked hard, and played the game the right way. As happy as I am for him, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. On behalf of the entire organization, we wish him all the best, and continued success.”
