Bombers Alum Lyden Named NCAA D-III MAC Rookie of the Year

The Long Beach Bombers are proud to announce that former Swedish forward, Carl Lyden, has been named the Middle Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, in NCAA D-lll. The Karlstad native recorded a Freshman year stat line of 21GP-5G-13A-18Pts. Moreover, Lyden’s Stevenson University Mustangs won the MAC Championship.

The 1995-born Swede was a member of the 2014-2015 Long Beach Bombers. In 42 Games Played, Lyden registered 24G-15A. Lyden would go on to play two seasons in Canada, in the GMHL, the latter of which was as an over-age player. In what would be an historic career, Lyden led the league in scoring, last season. His 129 Points rank 8th in All-Time Single-Season Scoring. Lyden was also the Captain of his South Muskoka Shield team. In two seasons, Lyden’s stat line ended with 106GP-136G-141A-277Pts. 

Long Beach Bombers Head Coach & General Manager, Chris White, commented, “We are very happy that Carl earned individual and team success, in his first collegiate season. I know he has worked hard on his game, and fitness. Now, we hope to see Carl build off his Freshman campaign, continue to compete, and achieve even more.”
