Bombers Add Local Forward Ryan Gil
The Long Beach Bombers are proud to announce the signing of local Southern Californian forward, Ryan Gil. The Huntington Beach native stands 5’10, weighing 190lbs, and is a left shot. Gil was born August 30, 1998, and is in his first year of junior hockey. The former Anaheim Junior Ducks star will make his Bombers debut, tonight.
Last season, Gil was the second-leading scorer for the 18AAA Jr Ducks, compiling 9G-33A-43Pts in 34 Games Played. Gil’s 39 regular season points placed him 11th in the country, in the Tier-l Elite Hockey League (USA’s top U18 league). His 30 Assists were third-most in the T1EHL. Gil then began his junior career in 2017-2018 by signing with the Rochester Monarchs, of the new NCDC Tier-ll league. After 9 Games Played and 3 Points, Gil moved to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (Canadian Junior A). He recorded a point-per-game for the Battlefords North Stars, before encountering eligibility issues with Hockey Canada. Thus, he continued his journey and ended up in the North American Hockey League, notching a goal in two games with the Topeka RoadRunners.
Gil comes highly-recommended by his former Ducks coach, August Aiken. Long Beach Bombers Head Coach & General Manager, Chris White, commented, “We are thrilled to get Ryan on the ice, tonight. I had a long discussion with August (Aiken), and we came to the conclusion we really needed to re-explore the possibility of having Ryan join our organization. After Erik Fagerlin’s departure, we now have a significant drop-off in production, after our top-4 forwards. I think Morgan Soderstrom is starting to get hot, and put up the numbers we expected. That, combined with this signing, we feel gives us a legit top-6 group of forwards. Ryan is a dynamic, creative forward. I would anticipate some very good chances for whomever he plays with. Ryan had a whirlwind start to his junior career, but after taking some time off, we are honored he has chosen to give our club the opportunity to develop him."
