Bombers Add Insurance At Deadline In The Form of Martinez

by Bombers Staff

The Long Beach Bombers are proud to announce the signing of veteran junior goaltender, Josh Martinez. The January 29, 1998-born Martinez is from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Standing 6’0, and weighing 170lbs, he is a left-catching netminder that comes to Long Beach from the WSHL’s Oklahoma City Blazers.

Martinez is in his third, and final, season of junior hockey. This year, he has compiled a 5-1 record, posting a stat line of 1.75 GAA and .923 SV%. While four of his wins come against the Wichita Jr. Thunder, he also posted a 2GA win over the Fresno Monsters, at the WSHL Showcase.

Long Beach Bombers Head Coach & General Manager, Chris White, commented, “We had an unfortunate injury, in practice, that will sideline Mason Kaprelyan for an extended period. Thus, we felt it was important for us to add an insurance policy, to our goaltending group, as we head into the final 13 regular season games, and then playoffs. Josh is coming from a quality organization, and is going to provide us with some depth at the position. We have been very happy with the play of Domenic Bosetti and Matthew Genter, but we did not feel comfortable with just two healthy goaltenders on the roster, given the amount of games we have left. So, Josh is going to come in, work hard, and afford us one more option, down the stretch.”
